A Night At The Lakeside
Body shivers from the cold of the hand you placed on my shoulder,
But Ive finally adjusted to your temperature.
The stillness careens on my goodwill to save;
The crashing waves breaking on my heart,
Numbing my inspiration or lacking of my serenity
Why do these feelings always look on me with pointing fingers?
The horizon off in the distance knows not where we are.
Barely trudging past our fickle sovereign nation.
Three lights to it all,
Past the flaming admiration.
Stylish eyes wander over.
The grasped fist,
Leaning on reality.
Dramatizing what should,
And why I cannot feel,
The warmth surrounding.
Clouded senses offering a claim.
To bold to cast,
To fast to catch.
The little ones drown it all;
The galaxy foretold.
Bleeding hearts and scorched flesh,
Under a flying flag,
Shed from color into shame.
A sign falling from its hold.
A promise once, but not for long
Kept in close distance;
Final call for all.
